Spanx CEO Offers Employees $ 10,000 In First Class Airline Tickets After Acquisition
ATLANTA (Gray News) – The CEO and founder of women’s clothing brand Spanx gave his employees a huge surprise after the company was acquired by alternative asset manager Blackstone.
Sara Blakely, who founded the company in 2000, told Spanx workers that they would get two first-class plane tickets to anywhere in the world as well as $ 10,000 in cash to spend on the trip.
“I really want each employee to celebrate this moment in their own way and create a memory that will last a lifetime,” Blakely said on Instagram.
The announcement came after Blackstone bought a controlling stake in the women’s clothing brand at a valuation of $ 1.2 billion.
Blakely will retain a significant stake in the company and become executive chairman of a newly appointed board of directors.
The CEO launched Spanx with $ 5,000 in savings and made the company a worldwide success.
“This is a very important time for women entrepreneurs,” Blakely said in a press release. “I started this business with no business experience and very little money, but I cared about the customer the most, and it gave me the courage to start the business.
Spanx is Blackstone’s latest investment, as the company also supports several other women-led businesses like Bumble and Ancestry.com.
