Crawley entrepreneur says ‘everyone can dream big’ after being featured in British Vogue and winning prestigious award

Rumcy Supra launched Supra Design just before lockdown in 2020 and it has been such a hit that the 29-year-old wants to inspire other women and people in business.

Despite the difficult times, Supra Design has been recognized by editorials such as British Vogue and Prestigious Awards.

Supra Design, headquartered in Gossops Green, offers individuals and businesses in the residential, restaurant and boutique hotel sectors an interior design service.

Rumcy, who lived in Southgate for two years before moving to Gossops Green, said: “Put simply, our services are where luxury and innovation meet design.

“To me, luxury is about comfort and stylish living, and innovation is about technology and the advancement of sustainable living implemented in spatial design for a healthy lifestyle or staying ahead in the business sector.”

Rumcy was and grew up in Denmark, with her parents from India and Sri Lanka, and moved to Crawley when she was nine.

“Being surrounded by different cultures and communities and being exposed to different lifestyles, it was hard not to be creative – that’s where I get my inspiration from too,” she said.

“While working for a high end interior design firm in Surrey as a junior interior designer, I managed my projects and saw a gap in the market. After research and 5 years of experience in the industry.I found the courage to run my own company – Supra Design.

And the former Hazelwick student is very proud of what she has accomplished.

“I work in an industry filled with patriarchy,” she said.

“For a young South Asian woman starting out, it was not easy. However, resilience and consistency is what kept me and my business going. Despite the challenges and COVID 19, Supra Design was featured in The British Vogue and awarded the Prestige Awards for Best Architecture and Interior Design firm in the South of England.

“It proves that anyone can dream big.”
