Barker Welfare Foundation donates chamber membership to local entrepreneur

As part of its investment in the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, the Barker Welfare Foundation recently offered a one-year chamber membership to Chef Quayla of Predictable Foodz.

At a recent gathering of friends at the Barker Mansion, Chef Quayla prepared a lunch with a variety of sandwiches, sides and desserts. Susan DeMaio, Executive Director of the Barker Welfare Foundation was on hand and presented a classic Quayla membership package shortly after lunch was over.

Predictable Foodz was founded and created in Michigan City, IN by Chef Quayla. They are a mobile hospitality company that specializes in providing a gourmet touch to all of their services. Founded in 2019, after hosting a family member’s graduation party, Chef Quayla knew cooking was something she loved to do and was a skill she was ancestrally blessed with. “I’m so excited to join the chamber; I have been a member for years now. I am so grateful to The Barker Mansion and The Barker Welfare Foundation for providing this incredible gift to a woman-owned small business; I was literally moved to tears,” said Chef Quayla, owner of Predictable Foodz.

The donation of a membership program is a new initiative that the chamber launched earlier this year. Top chamber investors have the option of selecting a local minority, female, or veteran-owned business and providing them with a one-year chamber membership. For small businesses, this is an opportunity for them to connect with existing members, businesses and chamber organizations. The chamber believes in fostering an inclusive business environment to promote a thriving community. “We are thrilled to be part of this chamber program and to make this investment in a woman-owned, minority-owned business,” said Michele Gustin, Barker Mansion’s Programs and Operations Manager. Barker Welfare Foundation Executive Director and Barker Mansion General Manager Susan DeMaio added, “Predictable Foodz is destined to be a strong business in Michigan City’s future and we are proud to be a part of its growth.

The Michigan City Chamber of Commerce serves as a resource for its members, businesses and the community to promote economic growth in the Michigan City area.
