Anne Heche remains in critical condition as police continue to investigate her car crash

“Over the weekend, a rep said Anne was in stable condition but that information was inaccurate. She still remained in critical condition, slipping into a coma after the accident,” a doorman said on Monday. Heche spoke to CNN in a statement. “She has a significant lung injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns requiring surgery. She is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center.”

Earlier Monday, CNN reported that Heche was being investigated for misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run charges, according to LAPD officer Annie Hernandez.

Investigators obtained a warrant for a blood test on the day of the incident. They are still waiting for those results, Hernandez said. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be referred to the LA City District Attorney’s Office, Hernandez added.

Heche’s rep told CNN she hasn’t yet been able to meet with investigators due to her injuries.

Meanwhile, friends of the woman whose home was destroyed in the crash say she “narrowly escaped physical injury”.

Lynne Mishele was inside her residence where Heche crashed and a fire broke out, officials told CNN. Neighbors John and Jennifer Durand started a GoFundMe for Mishele to help him rebuild his life.
In the description of Fundraisingthe Durands state that Mishele has lost everything except “a few damaged sentimental effects”.

“Lynne lives with her beautiful puppies Bree and Rueban, and turtle Marley in Mar Vista’s home which was destroyed this week by a car driving into the house at high speed, setting the house on fire,” GoFundMe says. “Lynne and her family narrowly escaped physical injury, and we are very, very grateful for that. The house, however, was completely burnt down.”

Roy Morgen, another neighbor of Mishele, told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS that Heche’s car stopped about “two feet from where she was sitting.”

“She was very lucky,” Morgen said of Mishele. “She’s in shock…it hasn’t touched her yet. There’s nothing left in the house. Everything’s been destroyed.”

“Lynne lost her entire life of possessions, memorabilia, all the equipment for her business,” GoFundMe says. “With the help of firefighters, she was able to remove some damaged personal effects from the wreckage. Everything else was gone.”

CNN has reached out to Mishele and the Durands for comment.
