American Chamber of Commerce secures more lucrative collaborations in Ghanaian

As the first year of implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) draws to a close, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Stephanie Sullivan ensured the deepening of business-to-business relationships. Ghanaian and American companies to strengthen their activities and capture new foreign direct investment.

According to the Chamber, Ghana’s political stability, security, growing middle class and its role as host of the AfCFTA secretariat are attracting more and more American companies seeking growth opportunities on the African continent.

She spoke at the commissioning of a new House office and resource center in East Legon, Accra.

“As Africa’s economy continues to grow, the opportunity is ripe for the AfCFTA to keep its promise to expand intra-regional trade and capture new foreign direct investment. That’s why, with the opening of this new office, AmCham Ghana is also launching its AfCFTA Resource Center – an effort to help US businesses better understand AfCFTA implementation.

When American companies come to Ghana, they can use this new facility as a temporary office and set up meetings with potential business partners and other local stakeholders. As the number of American companies increases in Ghana, AmCham also increases. This move to a bigger and better facility in East Legon is proof that the trade and investment relationship between Ghana and the United States continues to strengthen, ”she said.

The US Ambassador to Ghana also highlighted how the US sees huge potential to develop the country’s franchise brands in Ghana.

“An example of this partnership was exposed last week when AmCham – in conjunction with the US Embassy – launched a new committee focused on developing the franchise industry in Ghana. Franchising enhances the prosperity of the community by providing small business ownership opportunities, competitive salaries, job training as well as jobs and career growth for individuals – from entry level to management.

It also gives Ghanaians the opportunity to move up the corporate ladder. American franchise brands strive to ensure that their local partners are supported by world-class training and market development, ”she added.
